It’s unusual to see in a botanical garden the union on natural and human works, inhaling the smell of plants together with the fragrance of paints. Also it’s unusual to see an international collection of “art-tatters” on the trunks of a beech, a maple or an oak. These atipical matching will be amazing for the visitors of exhibition “Fetzen im Wind II / Rags in the wind II” in the Botanical Garden of Franzens University in Graz.
This concept of art was born among the clothes hanged in Neapolitan streets, and was realized in European botanical gardens. The idea of Free International Artists was inspired by a natural art-work: the action of wind on the clothes that all the women hang to dry, in every part of world.
This archetype could be extended to everything is similar to a cloth in the wind: also a temporary exhibition of works, that transmit an unconscious but fascinating message.
“Fetzen im Wind II / Ragsin the Wind II” is an event promoted by Free International Artists to mark a phenomenon of modern society, where everything, including art-works, is transitory and dynamic. It is also a coloured idea to insert different plays in the system of traditional art.
In 2005, in the botanical garden of Federico II University of Naples, Free International Artists espressed the world mythes. Today, in the botanical gardens of Franzens University of Graz, they express the magic. In the future, in other gardens, they’ll speak about poetry and love.
